Brentwood City Council Meeting

Members of the Delta Association of REALTORS Local Government Relations (LGR) Committee, REALTOR Party of California Member Mobilization, and Leadership Team invite you to join them in attending the Brentwood City Council Meeting. Agenda will be posted on the City of Brentwood website.

Topic of interest: ADUs and Junior ADUs. Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) are secondary living units on a property in California that provide independent living for one or more people. ADUs can be attached to the main residence or detached, and can be built in existing space like a garage or master bedroom. 

Benefits of ADUs 

    • Affordable housing: ADUs can be more affordable to build than other housing options
    • Rental income: ADUs can provide a source of rental income
    • Family housing: ADUs can provide housing for extended family members
  • Aging in place: ADUs can allow seniors to age in place while maintaining privacy
Types of ADUs 

  • Detached: ADUs that are separated from the main residence
  • Attached: ADUs that are attached to the main residence
  • Repurposed space: ADUs built in existing space, such as a garage or master bedroom
Recent ADU laws
  • AB 976: Permanently allows owners to build rental ADUs on their properties 
  • AB 2533 and SB 1211: New requirements that apply to all local ADU ordinances 
  • SB 1077: Requires the California Coastal Commission and Department of Housing and Community Development to develop guidance for ADUs in coastal areas 

The Delta AOR team will meet in the parking lot of City Hall located at 150 City Park Way off Oak Street at 6:30 pm to review talking points and procedures. Meeting begins at 7pm.
