We have launched a new housing affordability program. The purpose of the Delta Housing Affordability Fund is to increase housing affordability for qualifying, first-time homebuyers by providing closing cost assistance. Our mission is to reduce the financial burden of purchasing a home and bridge the affordability gap for those who may not otherwise qualify. This new program will support Delta Association of REALTORS®’s request for funds and grant application submission to the California Association of REALTORS®’s Housing Affordability Fund (HAF).

The primary benefits of the program are based on Delta’s four core values:

  1. Increased affordability: The program will reduce the financial burden of purchasing a home for qualifying, first-time homebuyers by providing closing costs assistance.
  2. Expanded homeownership opportunities: By making homeownership more attainable, the program will expand homeownership opportunities for qualifying, first-time homebuyers who may not otherwise have sufficient funds for the closing costs required.
  3. Strengthened communities: Homeownership helps to strengthen communities by promoting health and housing stability, as well as increases civic engagement and pride in community.
  4. Creating long-term financial stability: Providing pathways to homeownership creates opportunities for those who rent to increase their long-term financial well-being for families who have been historically locked out of the housing market.

This program matters to our region because it serves underrepresented homebuyers with little to no savings. As a not-for-profit association, we are strongly committed to promoting housing affordability and expanding homeownership opportunities as a path to wealth-building for families who have been historically locked out of the housing market.  The program will work to address the affordable housing crisis in the community and contribute to the overall health and vibrancy of the local housing market.

Stronger communities are built on strong partnerships. Delta Association of REALTORS®’s work in the community would not be possible without strong partnerships across multiple community groups. We rely on local businesses, quality lenders, philanthropic organizations, and local government agencies to work together to make ideas like these achievable. We are requesting that you join us in this effort.
